Despite my hardest effort, I have been unable to decipher the writing on the base of the Argonian statue. How odd it is that your men are unable to move it, or, indeed, even make a mark on it; this certainly points to some sort of powerful charm. One thing I have noted, however, is that the false wall is quite old, as is the room the statue itself is in: this means it was almost certainly here well before the current Castle Leyawiin was constructed. Despite the rather frequent and intense questioning of local Argonians, we have yet to learn the truth behind this statue, beyond the original rumors that surfaced when the statue came to light: that it hid some great and wonderful treasure. I feel I remember having heard of a book, long ago, that detailed Argonian history in the Nibenay Valley; this is the last place I can think of that we could search for an answer to the reasoning behind this statue. Unfortunately, I have as yet been unable to obtain a copy of this book. Perhaps if you could send someone to the Imperial City; I feel either the Arcane University or one of the book stores in the city itself are our best chance to find this ellusive book. I have also heard the Count of Skingrad has a collection of volumes that rivals even that of the Imperial Library; perhaps you could contact him and ask if he has seen this book. Please, send word to me should you come across a copy, or have need of my services again.

私の大変な努力も空しくArgonianの像の台座に書かれているものを解読する事はできませんでした。部下達はそれを動かすことも出来ず、また本当に記録も残す事さえできないと言ったありさまです。確かにこれはある種の強力な魔力を帯びています。しかしながら私が注目した事柄はこの像自体がある部屋のずいぶんと古く異質な壁です。これは、現在のCastle Leyawiinが造られる以前からここにあったのが、ほぼ間違いないと言う事を意味します。現地のArgonian達への度重なる激しい尋問にも関わらず、私達は像が最初に明るみにさらされた時にあった最初の噂以上の、この像に隠された真実を知り得ていません。それは何らかの素晴らしい宝が隠されています。ずっと以前にNibenay ValleyのArgonianの歴史を詳細に述べていた本について聞いた覚えがある事を思い出しました。これはこの像に隠された問に対する答えを捜しだす事が出来ると考え得る最後の場所です。残念なことに、私はこの本の写しをいまだ手に入れることができていません。恐らく、誰かをImperial Cityに行かせることができるならば、Arcane Universityか街の本屋のうちの1店がこの見つけにくい本を発見出来る絶好の機会であると思います。SkingradのCountがImperial Libralyに匹敵する程の分量の収集をしているとも聞いたことが有ります。彼と連絡をとることが出来るなら、この本を見た事があるかどうか尋ねると良いかもしれません。運良く写本を見つけることが出来たならば、私へ報せを送るか、再び私の手助けを必要としてください。
