<DIV align="left"><FONT face=1>Only six years ago everyone could walk into any Mages Guild and get a homemade enchantment, create exactly the spell that was needed - but not anymore. Something had changed. First guild members able to provide these services were removed from the chapterhouses and replaced with altars. Then these altars were relocated to the Arcane University. Which then was closed for the public.<p>
This leaves you wondering if the Mages Guild didn't learn their lesson in Morrowind? There the Great House Telvanni, with the support of the Great Houses Hlaalu and Redoran, revoked the Mages Guild monopoly. A monopoly which was only granted in exchange for giving education and magical services to nonguild members. A rule that was ignored in Cyrodiil. Even worse, not only did nonguild members not have access anymore, but guild members unable to travel throughout Cyrodiil to collect recommendations had the same problem. So even those interested in the magical arts were denied use of these services.<p>
Not anymore. In a surprising move the Stranded Light recruited the experienced mage Ahtize, who is able and willing to create enchantments and spells for anyone visiting Merendin. Another reason to visit the guild's headquarters. Now, neither the ardous task of collecting recommendations nor a guild membership at all is required. Paying a visit to Merendin is all that is needed. And of course a tiny little bit of tolerance: Ahtize is, as her picture reveals, a strange sight in Cyrodiil: She's a Sea Elf that survived a shipwreck and has found a new home at Merendin.</div>
