Apparently he believes that the town of Kvatch was destroyed by something or someone called [QUOTE]The Sunken One[QUOTE]. He believes that if The Sunken One is not appeased by The Offering then more towns will be destroyed. He asked me to take the offering to The Sunken One in Sandstone Cavern as he believes that he would be unable to make through the cave himself.

All signs point to Sandstone Cavern nearby. I should proceed there, as I fear for Slythe's safety.
