A Pocket Guide On The Nature of Places Not Here<br><br>

<p>
To understand the world around you, you must understand its foundation. The Aurbis is this foundation. It is infinite and on it works only a single force: change. The change can go in two directions: towards Padomay by which the Aurbis loses it?s potential, acting out its possibilities until nothing more is possible, or towards Anu, by which the Aurbis gains in potential, reversing on its possible states until there is nothing left but pure possibility. In either extreme, existence is impossible in the deepest sense of the word. It is possible to "be" in existence were the two interact.
<p>
The balance between Anu and Padomay varies across the vast expanse of the Aurbis, allowing us to define several locations. These are the Void, the un-Void, the lands of Oblivion, the Lands of Aetherius, Mundus and the Outer Realms.
<p>
I beg my readers to bear in mind that although dualistic nature of the Aurbis can be summarized by Chaos and Order, Magic and Void, Anuiel and Sithis - and various other opposite terms depending on the context - they still are generic descriptions.
<p>
On The Void and Un-Void
<p>
Before the Aurbis became divided in two extremes, it was a Grey. A perfect mix between black and white, magic and void, chaos and order, the perfect balance between Anu and Padomay. To reach this state within a person is the goal in various endeavours of the mythical kind.
<p>
As the et?Ada changed the Aurbis, the Void and Un-Void were created. These Ancestor Spirits are solid parts of the Aurbis and were created by time; like cloths in a bowl of oatmeal they stuck around, affecting the Aurbis around them, either absorbing or expulsing its potential - thus draining or filling the space around them with it.
<p>
The Void is created by those Ancestor Spirits who preferred to absorb the potential of the Aurbis and move towards Padomay rather than Anu. The Un-Void was created by those who did the opposite and changed towards Anu rather then Padomay. By doing this they used up the potential of the Aurbis or collected it respectively.
<p>
The Un-Void also goes by the name Aetherius. The expulsed potential - Magicka - allows Mages and Wizards to cast their spells. The Void can be observed after sundown, as it is the black night sky also known as Oblivion.
<p>
On The Lands of Oblivion And Aetherius
<p>
As mentioned before, the Ancestor Spirits are solid parts of the Aurbis. Their solid state is what gives them their identity and possibly the reason why they change in opposite directions. The Lands of are the parts of the et?Ada capable of functioning on their own while still being part of the spirit. A rather schizophrenic state but apparently it seems to work.
<p>
The lands that lay in the Void are often referred to as the lands of Oblivion. Besides the personalities of the governing spirits, there is little known about the lands.
<p>
Whether there are lands that lay in Aetherius is unknown - their existence has never been proved - although it is rumoured that an unknown hero has visited such a place.
<p>
On The Outer Realms
<p>
The Outer Realms in the Void are places where streams of magic make existence possible. As random flows of Magicka burst into the Void, things start to happen. If the incoming flow stabilizes, the newly created realm might stay in existence for a while.
<p>
A good example of this would be the Battlespire, an artificial pocket of existence in the Void, maintained by a constant input of Un-Void - Magicka. The moment this input would stop, the dimension would collapse as the Void would slowly wash over the Spire.
<p>
The Void is filled with a myriad of these pockets. They are constantly being created and destroyed - their natural inhabitants are the Atronachs, intelligent beings made up of magic, allowing them to survive the harsh environment as they can consume their own magic to keep existing in the Void when their pocket of existence collapses, this allowing them to migrate across the void. It is unknown whether there are pockets in the Un-Void; one would expect this to be the case, but so far none have been encountered.

Writer's Comments
<p>
If the reader is familiar with the teachings of the Lord Vivec, he?ll have noted that the term Void is used incorrectly. According to Vhekish teachings, the Void is the space where the Realms of Anu and Padomay are not - the Aurbis is the result of their interaction.
<p>
As the term matches with the image of used up potential and to avoid confusion between the Lands themselves, I decided to ignore this as the model used in this guide has no actual room outside of the Aurbis.
<p>
The observant reader might also have noticed that I did not simply replace Padomay aligned et?Ada with the much shorter and simpler Daedra. I did this because of the literal meaning of the word. Not all Anu aligned et?Ada are our ancestors, only a limited group - our Venerated Nine - who accepted Lorkhan's divine spark of inspiration.
