We found this enchanted Altar outside in the southern wilderness near Kvatch. It appears to be new and we believe it makes powerful Black Soul Gems. But we could not get it to work after we moved it here. So I have had it magically bound it to VarlaStones by a friend of mine who seems to know what it does. If you place 1 Varlastone inside the Altar it will power it indefinately. Allowing you to convert Empty Grand Soul Gems to Black Soul Gems simply by casting a Soul Trap spell on the altar.

I did asked at the Mages Guild about Black Soul Gems and they nearly turned me in to Goat for just making an enquiry. Luckily it turns out a friend of mine knows all about them.
