<FONT face="2">The Resurrection of Mir Corrup!</div>

<DIV align="left"><FONT face=1>Wroth Naga. Dasek Moor. Mir Corrup. Sutch. What do these cities have in common? They were either abandoned during the Third Era, or moved over a border. Sutch, once the red jewel of the Imperial Reserve, is now part of Hammerfell. Dasek Moor, not even ruins exist anymore. Mir Corrup? Only through a pact gone wrong do its city walls survive to this day. The city was abandoned shortly after the Imperial Simulacrum, but ripples of the "Miracle of Peace" extended into Cyrodiil and as all city states around the Iliac Bay merged, Mir Corrup disappeared.<p>

Unlike all other cities, though, Mir Corrup was pulled out of the mists of time back into the present. The Stranded Light, most prominently Tesserayiel, Kanaane and the Hero of Kvatch, not only investigated what happened to the old city, but also brought the city back to life.<p>

But, as any visitor will see, not in its old form. In the current crisis of the Empire, resources are hard to come by, so the Stranded Light has chosen another way: The use of Telvanni Mushrooms. After a first test with the Stranded Light outpost near Bruma, using the same method for resurrecting the city seemed logical. And it was successful! Where once normal houses stood, now mushrooms of various size stand. And inside them organisations like the Mages or Fighters Guild, a guard quarter, and of course the new citizen of Mir Corrup.<p>

A lot of them in very elaborate and unique shops. A few examples: There's the "Boiling Cauldron", a place to buy and sell alchemical ingredients and apparati. The special climate inside a Mushroom even allows Maya gra-Orag, owner of the Boiling Cauldron, to grow some very unique ingredients that are hard and expensive to get everywhere else. Then there's the "Sunken Treasures", bringing extraordinary clothes and jewelry to Cyrodiil. More so the shop itself is a landmark on its own: The mushroom is half flooded, welkynd crystals emit blue light, and fog swirls up and down. The main trading section is at middle height, on a platform just above water level.<p>

Speaking of platforms: A central location in the new Mir Corrup is its market place. Grown out of several platforms high above the ground, it contains various places where merchants of the city can offer their goods, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view or meet friends. Even more breathtaking, though, is the view from the Stranded Light Outpost: Being inside a big tower, it offers a balcony so high that you can overlook the whole city and its surroundings!<p>

What couldn't be restored though, were Mir Corrup's famous spas. Especially since the place they were built turned into a lake, a transformation which couldn't be undone - merely kept in mind while planning the city.<p>

Now who does guard and rule Mir Corrup regrown? What are future plans for Mir Corrup? What role will it play in the late Empire? In Merendin, Zerreshju and Kanaane took a break from usual guild work and answered our questions!<p>

<font face=2>Question: <font face=1>Who had the idea of regrowing the city? And why?<br>
<font face=2>Kanaane: <font face=1>That would be me. We faced the problem that we had more people that requested shelter than we had place for in Merendin or our other outposts, so we searched for other solutions. That it was Mir Corrup was mere chance. We needed a secure place, and one we were allowed to rebuilt. Ever heard of the "Kvatch Decree"? Pure bureacratic nonsense, it just says that any city whose walls still stand doesn't lose city rights. It was issued after Kvatch's destruction, so other people can rebuild it without going through the hassle of getting city rights again. Yet the wording of the law also applied to the ruins of Mir Corrup. That way we were able to beginn the reconstruction a lot quicker. And of course Mir Corrup may be far out in the wilderness, but it's a very secure location - an important feature in today's world.<p>

<font face=2>Question: <font face=1>What role did the Elder Council play?<br>
<font face=2>Zerreshju: <font face=1>They sent a couple of guards, which we even had to supply with armors and weapons. We didn't involve them in any way. It's just not their business. The counties and cities of Cyrodiil are part of a web that is called civilization and empire, but they don't get their legitimacy from the Elder Council itself. Mir Corrup will pay its taxes, and will play its part to uphold society. We do not wish to become involved in politics.<p>

<font face=2>Question: <font face=1>We? Who does rule Mir Corrup now, especially since its original hereditary line of rulers has long gone extinct?<br>
<font face=2>Kanaane: <font face=1>The Stranded Light is in charge of operations, while the pro forma head of the city is none other than the hero of Kvatch.<p>

<font face=2>Question: <font face=1>What plans do you have for the city?<br> 
<font face=2>Kanaane: <font face=1>Our first priority was to get the city up and running. The second goal on our agenda was to expand it and create a castle substitute. We're on time. There are no further plans after this. Some see Mir Corrup only as a new city, but it's also something new. New methods were used to recreate the city; likewise all those people who have found a new home and are living peacefully together there transcends age-old prejudices.<p>

<font face=2>Question: <font face=1>Do you mean the Xivilai and Dremora living in the city?<br>
<font face=2>Zerreshju: <font face=1>Yes and no. A few words on those individuals first. The Xivilai was a messenger of Azura, and poses no threat to anyone. The Dremora served for a long time the Tribunal Temple in Vivec, helped pilgrimages on their journey. But I didn't mean only them. Mir Corrup has the largest Ohmes and Ohmes-raht population outside of Elsweyr. There are Argonians living beside Telvanni-born Dunmer. I think I even spotted a Maormer having a chat with an Altmer. Mir Corrup shows what a place the Empire can become - a place where everyone can live in peace, regardless of where you come from.<p>

<font face=2>Question: <font face=1>And there aren't any racial tensions?<br>
<font face=2>Zerreshju: <font face=1>There may be, but they have to overcome them. The city is small, and everybody needs everybody else. For example, if you need a potion or an ingredient to make your own potions, you have to trade with an Orc, Maya gra-Orag, regardless of what you think of Orcs.<p>

<font face=2>Question: <font face=1>What were the first reactions you received after proclaiming Mir Corrup to be a city again?<br>
<font face=2>Zerreshju: <font face=1>From a legal perspective, Mir Corrup never lost its city status - it was merely devoid of any citizens for some time. Yet, well, the best way to describe the reaction to the city would be "outcry". We've awakened sentiments about Mir Corrup, and a lot of people voiced an opinion that they want to have it back as it once was, with "proper" houses and buildings. I apologize for being so blunt, but this will not happen, because it's impossible. Likewise there are some objections against its location. Well, its the place the city was built long ago, during the First Era even. There were reasons it was abandoned. Nevertheless, after the Guild Guide came to Cyrodiil again there was no reason to not go back to this city.<p>

<font face=2>Question: <font face=1>Have you ever considered just building more outposts instead?<br>
<font face=2>Kanaane: <font face=1>Truth be told, no. While it would have been possible, it wouldn't be true to our vision. A place for more than just members of our guild. A place to show what possibly can be, if you're just willing to risk it. As great as the loss of Kvatch was, only mourning about what has gone will not create something new. There are days in which I think that Cyrodiil is frozen in fear and uncertainty of the future, its look locked on the past. In this picture we are the spring, the thawing that has come to Tamriel.<p>

<font face=2>And a last question: <font face=1>What do you think when you're looking at your newfound city?<br>
<font face=2>Zerreshju: <font face=1>In a metaphorical way the city is our child, but like a child it will leave us once its grown up. We can only hope that the seeds we have planted will survive and kept in honor, even when we aren't the driving force behind Mir Corrup anymore. I fear we should have taken more precautions for the troubled times the Empire will face, but we just haven't the resources for this. So we will hope that Mir Corrup will live on, last at least another three eras, and with the spirit we wished to bring into Cyrodiil.</div>
